How to choose 404 pages
People land on a 404 from old links, typos and moved pages. Say plainly that the page isn’t here, then offer the two or three places they most likely wanted.
One way home — for small sites: a clear line, one button to the home page. Nothing to decide.
Search first — for shops and content sites, where the visitor knows what they want. The search box is the first thing on the page.
Helpful links — for service sites: your three most visited pages as cards, so the lost click becomes a useful one.
What is inside the block
A Mafqud block is a full page section: a heading, a line of text, and a button, search form or list of links. With Elementor Pro, save it through Theme Builder as your Error 404 template; on the free version, a 404-page plugin can point at it.
Import into Elementor
- Download the block (or your whole stacked page) from the Studio as a
.jsonfile. - In WordPress go to Templates → Saved Templates and click Import Templates.
- Choose the file. It appears under Saved Templates with its ASAS name.
- Open any page in Elementor, click the folder icon, choose My Templates, and insert it.

How do I set a 404 template in Elementor?
In Elementor Pro: Templates → Theme Builder → Error 404 → Add New, insert the imported block, and publish with the condition “Entire site”.
Should the 404 page be indexed?
No. WordPress returns a 404 status for missing pages automatically, so search engines won’t index it. Nothing to configure.
Are these templates free?
Yes. Browsing, stacking and colouring need no account. Downloading the Elementor JSON needs a free account — a name, an email and a password, no card.
Do I need Elementor Pro?
Most blocks use core Elementor widgets only. Where a block uses a Pro widget, the Studio names it before you download, because Elementor silently drops widgets it doesn’t have on import.
How do I import a block into Elementor?
Download the .json file, open Templates → Saved Templates in WordPress, click Import Templates, choose the file, then insert it on any page from the editor’s template library.
